Six Technical Mistakes To Avoid When Running Teleseminars


With teleseminars, teleclasses and teleconferences increasingly popular, newcomers to this remote learning format make numerous mistakes that mar their prospects for making money from the telephone sessions. Attention to detail is essential if you are to foster a quality listening experience and end up with a recording people can confortably listen to and learn from.

Teleseminar mistake #1: Using a cell phone or Internet phone instead of a land line. According to conference call line providers, the quality of the call is only as good as its weakest link. Sometimes Internet phones create echoes and cell phones degrade the line quality for all the participants. Also, whenever someone has told me they were unable to connect to the conference call line, it turns out they were using a cell phone, even though I tell people not to.

Teleseminar mistake #2: Neglecting to turn off entry and exit chimes. Although every commercial conference-call line includes a command for turning off the chirps that signal someone coming on or getting off the line, many experienced teleseminar presenters fail to eliminate these distracting sounds.

Teleseminar mistake #3: Giving participants the moderator access code. Conference call lines provide users with two access codes – one for the moderator and guest and the other for participants – so that the call organizer can mute participants and their background noise with a single command. If you mistakenly give participants the moderator code, their barking dogs, typing and office sounds can disrupt or even ruin the call.

Teleseminar mistake #4: Relying on computer notes. If you have your teleclass notes printed out, rather than reading them off your computer screen, you won’t worry if the power goes out during a telephone session. For the same reason, make sure you have your call-in number written down on paper instead of only in a computer file. Although a power failure during a call sounds unlikely, it’s happened to two presenters I know. Spread your notes out across your desk to avoid distracting listeners with the sound of paper rustling.

Teleseminar mistake #5: Sipping water or coffee audibly during the teleclass. Always have a glass of water near you in case your throat gets dry, but use a straw to avoid gulping noises on your recording. On one conference recording I purchased, the emcee sounds like he’s not just sipping but slurping every minute or two. Whenever listeners can’t help but notice such things, they’re not paying attention to the content of the call.

Teleseminar mistake #6: Recording in mono rather than stereo. I like to listen to teleclasses on my portable CD player as I walk around our lake. Last month I returned a $199 teleclass collection for a refund because the mono recording played only in my left ear. After five minutes, it hurt to listen.

The surest way to take care of important logistical details is to use a reminder checklist, the way pilots do before takeoff. Got my water and straw? Chimes off? Then take a deep breath and concentrate on communicating your seminar content.

Playing The Numbers Game


When I first started in sales and marketing over 25 years ago my manager made one thing completely clear from the beginning – selling anything to anyone is a numbers game. The more people you put your product in front of, the more you will sell. Even a really poor salesperson will make some sales if their activity means they put their product in front of enough prospects. Now you can improve the numbers by being a better salesperson, having a great product or by being smart about targeting your audience but whichever way you cut it, selling is a numbers game.

None more so is this true than with internet marketing. Derek Gehl who is CEO of the Internet Marketing Center and one of the best internet marketers in the world openly admits that his conversion rates are about 1 in 1,000. Think about that for a moment, Derek has to get 1,000 visitors to make just one sale. Now Derek has made over $60m worth of sales in the past 8 or 9 years but he has only achieved this because he has generated millions and millions of visitors to his sites.

Actually, we have a better success rate at netSuccess Partners than Derek’s average. Around 1 in 300 visitors that we send to the Internet Marketing Center ends up making a purchase. That’s because we use a pre-sell strategy. We provide our visitors with an overview of the opportunity through a short review so that when they click thru to Derek’s site they are already interested – we call this a qualified prospect. Nonetheless, we still have to send 300 qualified prospects to make a single sale. That my friends, is the harsh reality of internet marketing.

Now I compare that to when I was at my peak as a face-to-face salesperson. I worked in an environment where I was being presented with qualified prospects and my sales conversion over an 18 month period was over 90%. That is, over 90% of people who I had a meeting with bought what I was selling. But the thing is they could look into my eyes and decide whether to trust me. I could show them the product and get their reaction. I could ask them about their circumstances and explain how the product would help them.

As internet marketers we simply don’t have these luxuries. Our visitors decide whether to trust us based on the website image and message. And given that many people have already made a bad purchase online, their starting point is not to trust what we are telling them. We can only guess whether the product will be good for them by profiling an outline of their potential circumstances – in the case of our netSuccess sites this means we are presuming they are looking for methods and tools to help them make money online or to help them improve the performance of their own website.

Let me ask you something. If you walked down the street giving away $10 bills do you know what would happen? Surprisingly, not everyone would take the money off you because some people would be wondering what the catch was. We find this on our netSuccess Matrix site. We give away four free gifts on the site, all of them aimed at helping people improve their online success. But here’s the thing, we have to get about 35 visitors before one of them accepts a free gift.

When you see this statistic, you begin to see why you have to get 300 visitors before you can make a sale. And remember, we are doing pretty well with this rate because Derek Gehl has to get 1,000 visitors to make a sale.

When I look at how our members perform with their promotional activities, I think many people just do not understand the harsh realities of the internet marketing numbers game.

Some people join and don’t promote the site we give them – well hey, we might have a great website but it’s not a magic website!

The majority of people join and maybe promote their site for a week or so, typically sending between 10 and 100 visitors to the site we give them. And then they give up, almost certainly because they haven’t sold anything so they have decided to move onto the next opportunity.

A few people (about 10% of members) stick with it and follow the advice we give them in the members’ area. They check out the traffic ideas and get active. And guess what, these are the people who make the money out of our programs. It’s not rocket science. As soon as you accept that internet marketing is a numbers game you realize that what you need to do is find one or two great products and just promote, promote, promote.

If you hop from one opportunity to another, you will get lucky every now and then but by and large you won’t make much money. If you don’t promote at all, you will not earn a dime and frankly, if you fall into this category, you might as well shut your computer down and go and do something more productive with your life. As I say to our members, if you really want to make money online you need to focus on a small number of top quality opportunities and just go out there and promote them like made. You also need to be patient because people do not necessarily buy the products you are selling on impulse. Often they will bookmark a site and revisit later and sometimes they might need to wait for their next paycheck before buying.

They key qualities you need to have to be successful at internet marketing are:

1. Focus – Keep to just a small number of products
2. Effort – You have to invest time and/or money promoting these products
3. Patience – Stick with it and the money will follow.

Everyone at one time or another has had an idea for a product or service that they absolutely knew would appeal to the world. With so many electronic avenues for getting these products in front of customers, from Ebay, Yahoo and Google, to self service websites, the idea of selling to the world has grown exponentially.

Once you understand who they are, then your next step would be to create an advertising plan that markets to your audience and a point that they can grasp. The real key here is to think from the customer's point of view, not yours. Everything you do should be built on the concept of what is the best possible experience I can provide for the customer. Thought processes which carry this overriding theme increase your chances for customer loyalty and a more fruitful business.

A prime example of how this works effectively is the automotive industry. With so much competition out there, dealerships such as Boston Honda, Los Angeles Toyota, Dallas Mazda, Audi Seacoast and Porsche North Shore have stepped up their game by looking at how customers are shopping today, learning what appeals to them, and providing the online experience that completely pulls the customer in and keeps them wanting to come back for more.

The question you need to ask yourself is “Am I trying to sell something?” If so, start selling less and start relating to your customer more. You will find that people are more open to your message and your delivery and more likely to develop affection for you and what you have to offer, which is the first step toward long-term customer loyalty.

5 Things You Must Have To Succeed In Affiliate Marketing


People who like to take their destiny into their own hands have the desire to be in the driving seat, of being able to drive wherever they want to and to take any path in life. Every one dreams of going to a great destination, and the knowledge that they have the capacity to get there themselves is what makes them actually want to.

Perhaps this is the reason why more and more people are turning to one of the most popular online businesses around – affiliate marketing. In this business, there are no bosses to order the employees around, no deadlines to meet and no pile of paperwork to do. You only need to be equipped with the tools needed to succeed in a business such as this, and you are bound to get what your heart ultimately desires.

What are the things needed to be able to succeed in affiliate marketing? And what personal attributes must you have to be able to do well in this industry? How to Lose Your AdSense Account By Advertising


When you are looking for instant gratification for your website, there is a type of advertising package that gets you excited. It offers instant legitimate traffic to your site. Will you pass it up?

It looks excellent and seems almost fool proof. You have probably heard of it, redirected web traffic from expired domains. The concept is simple and seems innocent enough when looking at it. A company buys expired domains with existing links, search engine listings, and a loyal following of Internet surfers that some webmaster just gave up on or couldn't afford to run anymore.

You have been dying to get more sales from your website and you see a company has purchased thousands of expired domains with actual traffic still pouring in to them, or at least that is what they say. I am not going to say their necessarily lying, but I will say it is important to read this before you continue on with a decision of purchasing this traffic.

The catch line usually is that the domains registered with this traffic seller are all sectioned into industry categories of relevance that you can rent, making it highly targeted traffic to boot. So your getting into your wallet ready to spend a hundred dollars or less for thousands of eager online shoppers for your product. You see your site fits a category that you know you can entice visitors to buy from or at least get some AdSense clicks from ... STOP!

Right off the bat I will tell you, if you value your AdSense account at all, this method of promotion can destroy your reputation with Google AdSense. How can it destroy your AdSense account and how does AdSense even relate to the domain traffic to your site? Sit tight and I will get to that subject as soon as we get finish the subject of redirected domains.

A redirected domain is just as you would think. You pay for temporary placement on multiple domains that have traffic generated to them. Pay close attention to the word I just mentioned, generated. Many of these companies, if not all will say their bought domains have legitimate traffic coming to them through searches, natural browser requests, etc. however you might find that almost all of this traffic is coming from one major source.

What would this source be? You won't like to hear it, but you might as well know, it comes from traffic exchanges. Traffic exchanges are not the advisable method to generate sales for any site other than maybe an MLM, traffic exchange, or marketing site. This is due to the fact that traffic is generated by other users trying to generate traffic to their sites as well. Most sites are ignored in an attempt to rack up points for views to their site.

Another method is having your site pop-under or pop-up when visiting a specified URL. While this method of traffic generation can work for some sites with good landing pages, not all redirected domain traffic companies play by the rules and to cloak a pop-up or pop-under from a user they can modify the opening browser window to be the size of a mere dot that a user would never be aware of. This of course would count as a visit to your site.

This has been discovered on more than one occasion as I myself tried to capitalize on additional low cost advertising methods and while being ineffective they can be harmful especially to an AdSense account.

If you read Google's TOS you will specifically see traffic exchanges and pop-under/pop-up forbidden for any landing page with Google AdSense code on it. You break these rules you may face a warning, but at times many have faced the penalty of termination. Knowing the risks involved with this type of advertising you are best to keep your site and your AdSense account as far away from these companies as possible.

If the sound of redirected domain traffic does appeal to you, the only way to guarantee yourself the traffic is legitimate is to order expired domains yourself. There are membership based sites dedicated solely to finding these types of domains in your niche and you just pay for the domain and forwarding service aside from the membership fee.

If you plan to test any method of new advertising that you are not 100% sure about always make sure to create a landing page without your Google AdSense code. You never know when you will be told lies over the Internet. Take this precaution and you will save your coveted AdSense account from termination.
